Conferences: Come and see us

The Allergy Team is delighted to be exhibiting at two school conferences this months.

Come and see us at:

  • BSA Annual Boarding Conference in Bristol, 6-7th June 2023 – Stand 24

  • HMC Deputy Head’s Conference in Harrogate, 11-13th June 2023 – Stand 12

Why is The Allergy Team at school conferences?

Allergic disease is the most common chronic medical condition in childhood and 20% of allergic reactions happen in school, most of them outside the dining hall.

We work with schools to reduce the risk of allergic reactions happening and to ensure all staff know how to respond if they do.

Our co-founder, Sarah Knight, explained more during her recent appearance on the ISBA podcast.

“There is a clear need for a change in culture around how food allergies are managed in schools. The UK lags behind other countries and children are suffering and even dying as a result. By really educating the whole school community about food allergy we can turn things around.”

Professor Adam Fox, Consultant Paediatrician in Allergy

We don’t just focus on your emergency response, we will work with you to embed best practice throughout your school culture, reducing risk and keeping pupils safer – helping to prevent allergic reactions happening in the first place.

Our services include:

Allergy Reviews

On site visits and interviews to help you understand what your school is doing well and where best practice could be implemented to tighten up procedures.

Why The Allergy Team?

The Allergy Team has a track record of transforming food allergy management in schools.

Since September 2022 we have supported over 450 schools, including Oundle, Badminton, Notting Hill Prep and Fettes College. We have also trained thousands of staff employed by school caterer Sodexo and are delivering ongoing work for Greggs.

“This training should be part of any school’s safeguarding and continued development.”

Sue Bruce

Head of Personal, Social & Emotional Education, Fettes College

“I thought the training was brilliant and I’ve certainly left feeling informed, inspired and confident with managing food allergies in school.”

Michael Speed

Deputy Head Teacher

“The level of detail, examples and experiences shared is outstanding. It really makes you think about current procedures but makes you feel it is all achievable as well… it should be compulsory for all staff!”
