Dr Polly James is the lead clinical psychologist at the children’s allergy service at St Thomas’s Hospital in London.
She is one of the few clinical psychologists who specialise in allergy therapy, a subject particularly close to her heart because both her young children have multiple allergies and feeding difficulties.
Dr James says “I work with children and their families to help cope with the overwhelming impact living with allergies can have on their lives. Including anxiety about having a reaction, fears about using epipens, social anxiety around living with difference, as well as parental stress and coping with a child with allergies.
I also specialise in feeding difficulties and run a feeding difficulties clinic supporting children and their parents with feeding problems (anything from fussy eaters to avoidant restrictive food intake disorder).”
Dr James has given up her time for free to help The Allergy Team support families.

Professor Brough leads the largest Children’s Allergy Service in the UK at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Guy’s and St. Thomas’ Hospital and runs allergy transition services for teenagers to empower them to take control of their allergies. gastrointestinal disorders and eczema. She jointly runs the joint asthma and allergy service at Evelina London.
