Inclusive Innovation Award winners
We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded an Inclusive Innovation Award from Innovate UK.
Championing people living with food allergy and advocating their inclusion in every aspect of life is at the heart of what we do, so winning in this category is particularly important to us.
The Allergy Team has been awarded £50,000 from Innovate UK to further develop a project we have been working on to support families living with food allergy.
It was a tough selection process and we were delighted that our project was one of 50 winners chosen from 400 entries.

How will we use the award?
The Inclusive Innovation Award will be used to develop a project we have been working on to improve understanding of food allergy and to challenge negative stereotypes of children with the condition.
We are creating a simple, effective way for parents and carers to share important, potentially life-saving information about their child’s allergies with others. No more demonstrating how to inject adrenaline with a trainer pen in the playground or sending a string of whatsapp messages listing all the child’s allergens and symptoms of an allergic reaction!
The Inclusive Innovation Award also gives us access to mentoring and other support which will be invaluable as we grow and broaden the ways in which we support families, schools and businesses.
You can find out more about the Inclusive Innovation Award from Innovate UK’s website, but in summary, inclusive innovation rejects the notion that a product or service should be designed around the ‘average customer’ by ensuring that accessibility and inclusion are considered from the outset of innovation design.
