Schools Allergy Fund

Every child with allergies deserves to be supported and safe at school.

The Schools Allergy Fund supports state primary schools across England to become safe, inclusive environments for children with allergies, no matter their postcode or budget.

It gives access to essential training and expert, ongoing support, so schools can have confidence they’re meeting best practice and that no child is left vulnerable because of their allergy.

It has been made possible through partnership between Allergy UK, Benedict Blythe Foundation, and The Allergy Team.

Let’s level the playing field when it comes to allergy safety.

Become a donor or partner

Because safety shouldn’t be optional. And inclusion shouldn’t be a luxury.

This isn’t one-off training. Your contribution will help create a sustainable shift in school culture that saves lives and builds inclusion.

The Schools Allergy Fund pays for each school to work with The Allergy Team for two years. This includes:

  • RWhole-school allergy and anaphylaxis training
  • RReview of school policies and procedures
  • ROngoing access to allergy support and Q&A clinics
  • RAccess to expert-led webinars and live support

Once schools complete the programme and meet best-practice standards, they’re added to the Schools Allergy Register, a national marker of trust for parents and staff and receive our trust mark.

It feels like every email, phone call and virtual meeting has improved my personal understanding of allergy management and has consequently made us a safer school for everyone.

Why this matters

Because even the most committed staff need the right knowledge and tools.

Because too many schools are left managing risk without real support.

Because every child deserves to walk into the classroom knowing they are included and safe.

The Schools Allergy Fund is addressing this urgent issue head-on by removing financial barriers that prevent schools from accessing life-saving allergy training and support.

What commitment is required from the school?

Schools benefitting from the Schools Allergy Fund need to be committed to working with The Allergy Team to implement best practice as set out in the Schools Allergy Code. They will be given resources, mentoring and support to do this but it will require energy from the school to drive it through. We aim to add schools to the Schools Allergy Register within 3 months.

Schools need to have two spare adrenaline pens to adhere to the Schools Allergy Register. Where the cost of buying these is a barrier to joining, the administrators of the scheme will consider funding spare adrenaline pens.
